December 2011
The 2011 brought many challenges for us as an Association.
We cut back on our competitions and in turn made
significantly less money. In fact the Association lost money
this year. Although it is never good to lose money we have
done it in the past and bounced back the following year.
We will be making the following changes for the 2012 season:
- Promoters have been selected in different parts of the
province. These promoters will have the job of setting up a
competition and promoting it in their area. The promoters
are: Northern NS/Cape Breton - Mark MacPhail, Western NS -
Shaun Deveau, Annapolis Valley - Shawn Ross, Halifax Region
- Wayde Graves and Ryan Purdy. We are still looking for
someone in the Truro /Central Region.
- The Battle of the Atlantic Championship is being moved to January of
each year and we are no longer running the Ranking
Tournament. In place of the Ranking Tournament we will be
running a qualifier for the BOTA challenger and an amateur
tournament.
- We are cutting out the medallions for the Elite classes and replacing
them with a plaque for first place.
- We are no longer running competitions for just a couple months of the
year. They will revert back to being run all year long.
This year it appears that Sylvio Bourque will be the only
one from Atlantic Canada competing at the Worlds in
Kazakhstan. Good luck Sylvio. I will be there as a Referee. |
