What first interested you in arm wrestling?
My older brother Edouard.

Where was your first tournament?
Sainte-Anne Winter Carnival, February 1978.

How did you do?
I was fortunate enough to finish first place.

Why do you keep competing?
Because I just love the challenge and want to keep improving every day.

How much longer will you continue to compete?
As long as I possibly can, and as long as arm wrestling continues to be fun for me.

What has been your most memorable moment?
Placing first at the 1979 Nationals, and hosting the Nationals in 1999.

Who do you look forward to competing against and why?
There are so many, I guess I'll start with Sylvan Perron; he's just an incredible arm wrestler, a real powerhouse. Also Chris Scott and Cecil Fahey because they present such a challenge. Finally, I have to mention Rick Pinkney. Rick and I are so evenly matched that I have to beat at my best to beat him. We have such great pulls.

Who and where were your favorite matches?
1998 Nationals in Thunder Bay against Mike Barrett in the left hand class because I had to outsmart Mike to beat him.

What are your favorite tournaments and why?
My favorite tournaments are probably Gloucester Fair, the Nationals, and the Atlantic Canadians. These are great tournaments and always very competitive.

Who do you look up to and why?
Even though there are a great number of arm wrestlers that I look up to, two names come immediately to mind: Fred Roy because he is opening doors worldwide, and Rick Pinkney because Rick is so totally devoted to the sport of arm wrestling.

Who has been your greatest influence and why?
Again Rick Pinkney, because of his devotion and the incredible job he has done in making the N.S.A.W.A. a first class organization. I would also like to mention Rick & Lise Blanchard and the super job they do in organizing and hosting the Gloucester Fair tournament.

To what do you attribute your success?
Decent power, hand control, and training.

What do you need to move up to next level?
I probably need to train harder and compete more. There is nothing like competing to keep sharp. I'll also have to travel to Nova Scotia more often and compete against some of the best pullers in the region.

What are your expectations for the next 2 years? The next 5 years?
To keep on competing and defeat George Iizakowitz, Rick Pinkney, and Mike Barrett. And to also win a National Masters Title.(accomplished in 2000 & 2001) For the next five years, I would again love to host the Nationals. I would also like to improve my referee skills and obtain my Level III and Masters certification, and then referee at the Nationals.

What do you do for training?
Weights, pulleys, and lots of practice.

How do you see the future of arm wrestling?
Steadily improving and someday I hope it will be an Olympic sport.

What changes to the sport would you like to see?
I would like to see more competitors, more media coverage, and more countries getting involved.

What do you dislike about arm wrestling?
Sometimes double elimination is not enough. I would like to see a ranking system or seeded tournaments like in tennis with a round robin qualifier.
