Married - 10 years(October 18th)

Years Arm Wrestling: 23 years

Titles Won:
Many Provincial titles,
2 Atlantic titles,
2 placings at the Nationals (1982 & 1999)

What first interested you in arm wrestling?
My brother Sylvio was constantly bugging me.

Where was your first tournament?
Saint-Antoine Poutine Festival, July 1978.

How did you do?
First round loss against eventual champion. This was a single knockout tournament.

Why do you keep competing?
It's probably because of the "Pro B" and "Pro A" divisions in Nova Scotia that I like the most right now.

How much longer will you continue to compete?
At least until the 2003 Nationals in Grande-Digue, N.B., probably longer.

What has been your most memorable moment?
I was quite impressed with the fan support at the 1999 Nationals in Grande-Digue, N.B.

Who do you look forward to competing against and why?
Any arm wrestler who I figure is better than I am.

Who and where were your favorite matches?
I'm always happy to pull a left handed upset against brother Sylvio.

What are your favorite tournaments and why?
Probably the Nationals, and the Gloucester Fair tournaments. I get to see lots of friends that I only see roughly once a year or less.

Who do you look up to and why?
Rick Pinkney. Total dedication for so many years. A lot of people start off by winning because of natural talent and strength. Rick started off by losing quite a bit and improved steadily over the years. He's now at a very high level and he is strong in all angles. He used to have an awesome top roll and that was it. Now, he can hook with anybody and has awesome side pressure too.

Who has been your greatest influence and why?
My brother Sylvio. He got me started, and brought me to a lot of tournaments.

To what do you attribute your success?
SUCCESS ??? WHAT SUCCESS ??

What do you need to move up to next level?
Have all of the guys who beat me retire before I do.

What are your expectations for the next 2 years? The next 5 years?
Would love to place at the Nationals in Grande-Digue in 2003, and maybe eventually win a Canadian Masters Title.

What do you do for training?
Very little right now.

How do you see the future of arm wrestling?
As long as Rick Pinkney stays dedicated, it's in good hands.

What changes to the sport would you like to see?
Allow me (when I'm at my weakest) to compete in women's classes as long as I shave my mustache.

What do you dislike about arm wrestling?
BAD SPORTSMANSHIP ! I love the camaraderie though.
